Painting vs Anodizing from an Architectural Perspective
Aluminum color selection, color uniformity, coating hardness and suitability in high traffic areas are all factors to consider when deciding on aluminum coating choices.
Aluminum Painting- Greater available color selection.
- Greater color uniformity between batches.
- Aluminum coil, painted sheet does not craze as badly when fabricated.
- Better chemical resistance to mortar, strongly acidic cleaners, and strongly alkaline cleaners.
- Greater color selection (it bears repeating!)
| Aluminum Anodizing- Generally, anodizing is much less expensive than painting.
- Anodizing is much harder than paint.
- Anodizing is better for aluminum in high traffic areas where the coating is subject to physical contact, abuse, and abrasive cleaners.
- Anodizing cannot peel. The coating is actually part of the metal.
- Deeper metallic color than possible with paint.
- Generally, anodizing affords faster turn around & delivery.
