This declaration is to inform Customers of Southern Aluminum Finishing Co, Inc (SAF) that extrusions produced by SAF contain trace amounts of chemicals listed in California’s Safe Drinking Water & Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. This Act, commonly known as Proposition 65, establishes a list of chemicals which the State of California’s risk assessment process has determined to present a risk of cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Chemical exposure typically occurs though inhalation, ingestion, and/or adsorption. Our extrusions are not intended to be eaten or inhaled, and chemicals used in the manufacture of our extrusions will not be absorbed through the skin under normal use conditions. Unfortunately, SAF cannot foresee all the ways our extrusions may be used (both intended and unintended) and to what extent their use may create an exposure risk.
SAF has chosen to provide a general warning based on its knowledge of the presence of one or more listed chemicals in its extrusions without attempting to evaluate the level of exposure or the extrusions intended use.
Extrusions sold by SAF may contain listed chemicals at levels that are below the Proposition 65 level of concern, or could even be zero. However, out of an abundance of caution, SAF has elected to place the Proposition 65 warning notification on its extrusion packaging, for products sold directly into California, beginning August 30, 2018.
